The acquisition continues Missouri Department of Conservation's efforts in the LaBarque Creek watershed to protect forests and the integrity of LaBarque Creek, as well as rare sandstone-based natural communities and to provide public recreation opportunities.

The final tract in the now over 1,000-acre Brushwood Community Forest that combined multiple tracts of land in various ownership a created a large single block.
