This document contains a "Volunteer Training
Manual" for use in training community volunteers to conduct street tree
and park tree inventories. The manual has been prepared by the USDA
Forest Service Northeast Center for Urban & Community Forestry and
represents a cooperative effort of the Center, the Urban & Community
Forestry Coordinators of New England and New York and the University of
Massachusetts.
The PDF file is written in Adobe Acrobat®
and is set up so that you can change or edit as appropriate to your
particular situation. Additionally, please be aware that you should
change the letter on the inside front cover as necessary (page 2 of the
document) and you will need to add your local contributors and supporters
at the bottom of the credit page (page 4 of the document).
When preparing copies of the manual for
binding and distribution, please photocopy each page back to back (double
sided) and begin with the front cover and inside front cover as your first
two pages of the document. When arranged correctly, the page numbers
of the manual will be aligned at the inside margin of each page, at the
bottom of the page gutter.
The inside front cover (page 2 of the
document) will contain a letter of support from your local officials or
organizations (sample letter enclosed). Also, please be aware that
several pages are blank, in order to ensure correct pagination.
