Forests, Water and People Analysis
ORIGINAL DATA SETS
These geographic information system (GIS) datasets were used in the original Forests, Water and People Analysis using the 1992 National Landcover Dataset.
In order to access these raster and vector data files, you will need a GIS software package such as ArcGIS 9 or ArcView. You can download a free copy of ArcGIS Explorer to view these data here.

UPDATED DATA SETS
These geographic information system (GIS) datasets have been updated since the original Forests, Water and People Analysis was published.
2001 Update
This dataset follows the same analysis method as the original analysis, however uses the 2001 National Landcover Dataset.
2001 with HUC-12 Update (12-digit HUC)
This dataset follows a slightly modified methodology as it not only uses the 2001 National Landcover Dataset, but summaries each step by 12-digit HUC or subwatershed, rather than the 8-digit HUC or subbasin. In addition, an updated road density and riparian forest cover dataset was created using new data. See the methodology document for more details.
