Driftless Area Initiative
The Driftless Area Initiative mission is: “To unite organizations and individuals within the Driftless Area of the Upper Mississippi River Basin for collaborative action to enhance and restore this region’s ecology, economy, and cultural resources in a balanced, integrated fashion.”

Ducks Unlimited conserves, restores and manages wetlands and associated habitats for North America's waterfowl.
Fishers and Farmers Partnership of the Upper Mississippi River Basin
The Fishers and Farmers Partnership works with landowners to add value to farms while restoring aquatic habitat, both on-site and downstream on the Mississippi River. Approved projects are led by landowners, with flexible cost-share funding and technical support provided by conservation partners. The aim is to keep farm profitability high while keeping soil and nutrients on the land.
Friends of the Mississippi
Advocates a new vision of the Mississippi in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area, by protecting the river’s fish and wildlife, floodplains and scenic bluffs, and natural and cultural treasures.
Great River Greening
Restores valuable and endangered natural areas and open spaces in the area around Minneapolis and St. Paul.
Green Lands, Blue Waters
A long-term effort supporting development of and transition to a new generation of agricultural systems in the Mississippi River Basin.

The Community Forestry Resource Center promotes responsible forest management.
The McKnight Foundation
Focuses on protecting and restoring a healthy, sustainable environment in the Mississippi River basin.
Middle Mississippi River Partnership
The Middle Mississippi River Partnership is a collaboration of twenty federal/state agencies and not-for-profit organizations with a common goal of restoring and enhancing the natural resources of the 195-mile long river corridor from St. Louis, MO, to Cairo, IL.
National Fish and Wildlife Foundation
Promotes healthy populations of fish, wildlife, and plants, and their habitat.
The Nature Conservancy and Great Rivers Partnership
TNC has designated 50 priority areas important to maintaining aquatic and terrestrial biodiversity in the Upper Miss. Basin.
Northeast-Midwest Coalition
Formulates strategic national policy on Midwest environmental issues.
First in Flight to National Wild Turkey Federation
Brings together public and private organizations to conserve bird populations in the Americas.
Trout Unlimited Driftless Area Initiative
Directs attention to the Driftless Area, a unique unglaciated area of 24,000 square miles.

The Mississippi Interstate Cooperative Resource Association (MICRA)
An organization of 28 state natural resource departments, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Tennessee Valley Authority, U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, U.S. Geological Survey, Chickasaw Indian Nation, and Chippewa-Cree Indian Tribe dedicated to improving interjurisdictional river resource management in the Mississippi River Basin.
National Association of Conservation Districts
Represents the nearly 3,000 local conservation districts around the country.
National Association of State Foresters
A non-profit organization of the directors of state forestry agencies.
Upper Mississippi River Basin
A regional interstate organization formed to help coordinate river-related programs and policies, and work with federal agencies that have river responsibilities.

Army Corps of Engineers-Navigation and Environment Sustainability Program
A long-term program of navigation improvements and ecological restoration for the Upper Mississippi River System over a 50-year period that will be implemented in increments through integrated, adaptive management.

National Agroforestry Center
Has several tools: riparian reforestation GIS decision support system, landowner guide to riparian restoration, and a visualization tool illustrating what a revegetated area will look like.

Promotes the preservation and use of the natural and recreational resources of the Upper Mississippi River.
