WASHINGTON, Sept. 11, 2013 – Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack today announced a partnership agreement to expand wood energy use, which will help improve the safety and health of our nation's forests. The new partnership includes USDA, the Alliance for Green Heat, the Biomass Power Association, the Biomass Thermal Energy Council, and the Pellet Fuels Institute. more>>

Synopsis of Cooperative Agreement Opportunity:

The U.S. Forest Service is providing leadership and funding on behalf of a USDA, multi-agency, Wood-To-Energy Initiative by offering a Request for Proposals (RFP) that support collaborative, statewide wood energy teams that advance the installation of commercially viable wood energy systems. Public-private statewide teams are invited to seek funding to support the development of geographic or business sector-based clusters of wood energy projects. Activities may include, but are not limited to workshops and assistance that provide technical, financial and environmental information, preliminary engineering assessments, community outreach needed to support development of wood energy projects in both the public and private sectors. Completed applications are due to the WERC on or before 11:59 p.m. EST, August 5, 2013.
